I'm disappointed that she's white
surely the new doctor should have been a gender neutral, black, asian refugee who identifies as a rabbit

I'm sure she can act. But given the whines of cultural appropriation from some people when a person get a hairstyle that was traditionally worn by people of African descent, there's a strange silence when a male role is turned into a female, not because the role requires it, but because some luvvie at the Beeb decided it was a womans turn.

Whats next - Mr Marple ? Or Mrs Spartacus ?

you do know it's not real eh? it's a made up story.

so does it matter if Dr Who is white, black, male, female, shrimp, Dalek, robot or whatever the writers want to make them??

no - of course not. but the way some people are reacting to this is just stunning.

almost as bad as any changes the writers make to the Archers - which as we all know is real life.... Wink

Exactly, The Doctor is a freakin' alien, and it has been established that Time Lords can change gender when they regenerate (The Master/Missy).

Of course it might end up being a load of crap, but I can't see why the choice of a female actor for The Doctor can't work, so why not wait and see ?

Surely if the writer has the new Dr as a female, the role requires significantly less trousersnake?

EH? I'm no Dr Who fan, but isn't 'The Doctor' able to regenerate into any (human?) form? Seems to make sense.

If that were the true reason then it would be entirely reasonable.

That the above 'reason' given for the choice of a female was why they did the change.
