Anybody aware of major changes to the IMUK 2019 bike course?
Rumours that it heads towards Bury....?!?

I've heard this rumour, too.
Current IMUK page states the 2019 bike course is to be confirmed.

I pray to god it doesn't. I live in Whitefield and am from Tottington and ride the connecting roads regularly.
If you think the current road surfaces are bad then you'll be in for a surprise. Nowt flat either, but that is standard for round here.

No chance. Definitely not enough room to get 2500 people up there. 50% would be walking too.
Plus the people of Ramsbottom definitely wouldn’t accept closed roads.

They close the roads there for the Black Pudding champs and also the hill climb, so why not IMUK?
It's getting more gentrified and middle class there by the week.
A nice middle class pursuit like triathlon is right up the new suburbanites alley

Bit of a difference between the hill climb and 2500 triathelopes closing the whole town down. Also a big difference between hill climbers taking 4 mins to get up it and people walking/weaving all over the road. It would be dangerous IMO.
I'm happy to ride it though if it is on the course but I'm also struggling to put together a sensible route to get the course over there and back to Bolton, unless they are cutting out the whole West side of the course over at Buckshaw etc.
You either come down Bolton Road West which is the main road into town or come into town the other way through Stubbins/Edenfield which would pretty much have to bring you though Rawtenstall and even further away.
Will be funny if it does though  Athletes and locals won't be happy.
They only close one street down for the chocolate festival and people can't handle that

The New "unconfirmed" Loop is all over face book, and there is a 112 mile ride completed twice with the author IMUK on Strava. 7.2k accent.
Several people are convinced its the same as 2017, some say Anglezark is included as per no sheephouse 2018 and some that it is indeed going towards Bury, Ramsbottom and the rake etc.
To be announced in the new year apparently.....!

It doesn't go into Rammy, it turns left up Holcombe Hill then over the moor onto the Grane Road. It passes the top of The Rake but you don't go up it.
Keeps Rammy town free but it is a horrendous route. Sooooo slow.
The road back from from Blackburn is tough, the Roman Road back to Hoddleston is a REALLY tough road with a few very sketchy parts, the climb out of Darwen is long but ok. Then you get to climb back out of Belmont and do the loop back through Chorley - twice
Even the first climb up Markland Hill is tasty.
Apart from that it is pretty easy!
Bang goes my sub 11 hopes.

On the plus side it is easier for me to ride every week
It is 70 miles from Markland Hill back to Markland Hill if you don't do the 2nd loop twice. It is a 15 min drive for me to get there so that will be my staple ride for the spring then will ride out and pick it up at Holcombe Hill in the summer.

Seriously I appreciate the info.
I have just learnt the original loop, so bit hacked off, but hey ho, it’s the same for us all.
Sub 11 was never going to happen, my first full, best 70.3 is 4:50 on a fast course on a good day.
Be great to have a ride out on a decent day when and if it’s confirmed.

The Endurance Store usually put on a couple of IMUK training days covering the bike route and even with a 3.8k swim before. I’d highly advise to get to them if you don’t know the roads.
Follow them on Facebook check the website out, there is a lot of good info on the blogs.
