Hi I just joined up and in fact signed up for my first Triathlon (seemed like a good idea at the time).
I'm mid forties, too heavy roughly size 20,
But never let that hold me back, I can run, I can swim, I can cycle
Wondering where to begin????

Traditionally you start with the swim.

Sprint triathlon in great yarmouth in April
250m swim (pool) 16k bike 3 k run as a taster then maybe norwich in July 750m swim (lake) 18k bike 5k run
I can do each one individually, I've done them all on the same day as a virtual triathlon but never entered an event
Most worried about transition 1 and what to wear!!!!

Welcome neet.
For your first one, keep it simple.
For what to wear, a tri-suit would be best, no need to spend a fortune, have a look at Wiggle, Decathlon even do them
Some bike to run sessions in training will help
You can practice T1...set your bike up in the garden with helmet and shoes next to it..run to it, helmet on, shoes on, short ride and repeat

Excellent

For the first one, you can get away with a swimsuit / trunks and then just put on a pair of cycle shorts over the top and a t-shirt for the bike and run. Alternatively buy a cheap tri-suit. If you can do all the distances individually, then you’ll be absolutely fine on the day.

Welcome to TT Smile I do that event every year, and will be again this year, it is a great little event for a beginner and very friendly. It normally has lots of people who are completing their first tri

My daughter did a very similar one for her first tri, and it was friendly and supportive. She just used her swimming costume and pulled on shorts over the top, and no special tri gear for any if it.

My biggest tip is to just go out and enjoy yourself. Don't worry about the competition, just do it for yourself. If after a few you want to get competitive, you can start thinking about speed through transition etc, but that is not important at this point.
