I want to do this next year. 5 weeks out from IMUK and not too far from Bristol where my friend lives who has just got into triathlon.
Does it usually sell out quickly? Hours/days/weeks?
Is it a decent event and Is it worth travelling from a Manchester to do when I can do a more local race the week before?
I know Graham? Posts on here sometimes and always seems to have decent feedback.

Great event. Has the perfect mix of big race feel with local race level of organisation (in the good way, in terms of attention to detail and personal communication with participants). Not closed roads, but as good as, with all major junctions police marshalled.
The 113 does tend to sell out pretty fast. The Classic stays open a bit longer. I've travelled for a 113events race 3 times and never been disappointed

The 113 is selling out earlier every year. The 2017 race filled in the January, and this years race was full last Nov iirc. I remember because I always wait until the last moment, and for 2018 is was way earlier than I had planned! Graeme usually puts out a message on FB when entries are getting low.
If you enter early, chances are you'll always be able to transfer the entry & get your money back, it's that popular.

As much as I love this event, I would ideally like to do something different at some point! I should probably just enter as an Insurance policy, as I will always be able to transfer it - it's almost like a commodity now

I abused my Admin power. Changed it back now you've seen it
I wouldn't leave entry too long; this sold out in Nov last year, and I anticipate earlier still this time around. In fact I'm going to check now...

As Jorgan says, he changed the post title.
We do not know eachother, you've been taking a rest from tri's for as long as I have been started. I do remember seeing your posts in 2013 when I found this place and triathlon.
Welcome back.

My inspiration was watching my mate at IMUK and seeing a Team True Spirit guy take of his prosthetic leg to empty some blood/fluid out, pop it back on and carry on running.
I was bored with running a bit and my mate wanted me to ride a bike with him so I entered the week after. Not the conventional build to long distance you are ‘supposed’ to have.

Did wiganer start Team True Spirit?
I seem to recall him raising about £50k a year for them back when I was doing triathlon.
Team True Spirit have also done the 113 (2012?)

Possibly, they trained out of the Wigan area and I think did a fair bit with Mark Laithwaite at The Endurance Store. I think. Mark came 2nd AG 45-49 at Wales this weekend.
