Had said earlier expecting 11h (secretly hoping for closer to 10:30), came in at (drum roll) 11:00:02 god damn it! (Just missed out on top 100 with 101st)
1:03 swim super chilled
6.02 bike (couldn't feel my hands, headwind felt like it was doing it's best to break me, jammed chain at the top of hunters hill 2nd time round)
3:45 run with stomach issues and toilet stop
First two ever penalities, undid my helmet clasp walking towards T2 but not taking my helmet off and stop/go for losing my number. | Chapeau on your first IM. Oarsum . With more experience you will nail your run issues and be well inside 11 and Top 100.
Amazed you got some penalties, thought reffing was just optional at IMUK. Did anyone ever see any Motorbike refs. I saw one near the end, that was it.
On any previous year you would have sub elevened and sub 6 bike, it was a tad windy this year, tho not as bad as some making out!

Or Wales 2012. It's virtually the same run course as last year, and I don't recall any moans then. Did the further drop into town multiply up that much
Wot dist did anyone else get. ?

The run course has been accurately measured and certified since 2012 (not using a gps, proper old fashioned (and accurate) methods) It was re-measured this year to take in the slight changes.
Wales is now measured as well.

Not before time mind!
I love that bike course. So technical and never a dull moment. Marshalling and traffic management was brilliant as usual, no expense spared here
Wiganer and loud crew on Hunters Hill were top notch. This is THE PLACE for spectators to make some noise on the bike course from now. Proper TdF / SolarBerg ish

Congrats Mr.ME. Always good to see someone from this parish get an autumn holiday in sunny climes.
As you say, it provides motivation for the rest of us (esp given your injuries on the build up)

I had a proper beltin day out on the bike supporting ..... living on the bike course made it easy for me to ride it backwards and shout at everyone I could ... great to see some familiar faces out there.
Stayed for a good while on Hunters Hill with the loons from the Endurance Store and Team Pie ... music, whistles, fancy dress, beer, pies ... it had it all and I hope the riders were enthused by it ...
It's always great to see TC, especially on the steepest bit of Hunters so I could shout "get moving you girl" ...
I carried on reverse riding, stopping to assist a couple of puncture victims to make sure their race wasn't ended.
I am used to the winds around here, its been like that all year and I love that bike course so I was very jealous at the time .. however, I hate running anything over 10km so I did not miss the death march at the end ...
I might even make another come-back at this rate ... then again
Well Done to everyone who took part at the weekend, finishers and DNF'ers ... love anyone who has the balls to take this on ... it's a mark of your character to have a go and I love that !!!

Hey all
Many thanks for the positive feedback
Sunday was a special day which will stay in my mind for a long long time. I'd echo what T_C said about the bike course. Always something to focus on, a new challenge round each corner and never a dull moment, my kind of course.
The Reality of the Kona logistics are starting to bite but they're great problems to have.
Thanks again.
Me

Is it just me, but looking at the results 80th-180th was it much more competitive this year?
2 yrs ago I (just) beat all the AG laydees for example. not a hope of doing that this time.
And I've been close to Top100 recently. I had no complaints with my bike n run performance/mojo tbh, quite pleased, its not like I had a bad day. Even if my sw1m hadnt deteriorated to utter sh1te this year and I knock 7 mins off I would still have only been 135th ish instead of 159th where I ended up.
