Still got 4x Zipp tubular wheels. I'm considering replacing my 4 year old Zipp SLSpeed tubs (24mm). Is there anything better out there nowadays, that doesn't have the fragility of a track tub? Usual set-up is 808FC front (26.5mm wide) & Zipp 900 (pre-dimple) disc (21mm wide iirc)
Anyone used the 23/25 mm Vittoria Corsa Speed G+ tubs? Or what about the standard Corsa G+?

Hey Jorgan, the 00s called and wants its triathlon equipment back
Everyone seemed to be using tubs on their race wheels when I started out, but now everyone appears to be on clinchers. I think Tony Martin winning the TT world champs on clinchers marked the turning of the tide.

I've just bought my first tubs ever.
Got a 2nd hand deal on some 1080's with PowerTap hub for my (very) low budget TT so now looking in to how to actually do that tub stuff.
My top choice would have been the Conti Podiums for racing, or GP4000S2 for all-round if I was to do anything more than 10/25TTs (e.g. IM) to have some more puncture protection.
But I think I'll opt for the cheapskate Tufo S33 since they come with a red sidewall and will look awesome on this bike. And despite everyone saying they are slow as feck I'm sire they are all wrong if they got red sidewalls. Right?

I still run tubs as my main race wheel. Enve 6.7s. The Vittoria Corsa Speed G+ seem to be the ST favorite. I have not run them myself I was always put off by their lack of puncture protection.
Currently still running the GP4000 IIs. Absolutely git to get on the rim, but have been fine and no punctures. Not the fastest roller though.

I'm in a similar boat to you. Got a great price on a pair of Hed3s and couldn't resist. Didn't want to throw too much money at them until I was sure I would keep them so got 3 Vittoria Rallyes for about £50 so that I could learn the stretching/fitting rigmarole. Used tape rather than glue and it wasn't too bad. Hope to start using them as the weather improves and if I get into them will get better ones and keep the Rallyes as spares.
My thinking is that I might use them for anything up to Oly but if I ever go longer would probably use clinchers. I've got a pair of SRAM S80s too.

Why aren’t you racing on Tufo’s? Car?
That one you sent me has done better than my trainings tubs!
It’s never punctured and has done over 200k for me now.

Fine as a spare, as they roll-up small. But the Crr of Tufos is horrendous, hence why I wouldn't use them as standard.

I mis-spelt Crr as Car in the above post, I'd assumed that was it
Not too bothered about that, at the minute, the road surface is more of a concern

I have spotted some New Old Stock 22mm Corsa SL tubs - basically a Corsa CX with a slick tread for less Crr. Might give those a shot.
