Yeah, but that's why it's funny. Although I have switched off some people just because it was a bit blatant.

People who seem to live on Facebook are funny like that. The more they brag about their lives the more sad and lonely I think they are. Overcompensation 101.

The only time I presumed to bore people of late, were a few pics of me on my last day in the Forces; you know... one of me in dress uniform and some other relevant shots. Everything else tends to be getting tagged in family pics by my wife. I used to post a lot more, but just of feel it's a bit self indulgent.
I think originally when most of us joined in the 00s, it was used as intended: to share pictures and thoughts with family & close friends. But now like most social media, it's become too commercialised and full of people self-publicising; and that's probably put a lot of us over 40s (maybe even >30s) off.

It's all about Insta now isn't it?
As for the dress - bit chilly for that, Stanley in June (Falklands Liberation Parade). I know the Bootnecks like that sort of thing though

Mind you I am also getting bored of Facebook, I only really use that to keep up with what other are doing in my ‘esoteric hobby arena’ and to ask questions of/gain the experience based wisdom of those who did that for a living for a decade or two for the US government.
Having been on the internet since it’s earlyish days, while I love its global reach and connectivity, enabling people to find like minds globally, and to do new stuff, quite frankly I am getting bored with it - the irrelevant advertising, the reinforcement of views as opposed to easily seeing varied viewpoints, and of course the occasional bully. Give me a good 📚 library.
I watch what my kids do re Insta and it just baffles me. “Look at my 🥘 dinner” its food, you eat it, why the world needs to see what I have to eat I have no idea.
As with most things the darkness of greed and power is spoiling something that was so promising. But hey that’s the way our world works. Sadly.
Now where are my 5 1/4 in floppy disks.

I look at the internet less and less and the range of sites is decreasing too...unless it is shopping related...
Much of FB is filled with selfies (personally, i'd rather see the view), narcissism and ill conceived opinions....it is a great place for viewing irony, virtue signalling and victimhood though...so it is not all bad...

Only reason I am still on it is that my cycling club use it as their main form of communication.

This new iPad summary is quite revealing on how you spend your time on the internet.
While most of my time involves learning French or viewing stuff to help me refine my self knowledge (eg comparing how I feel about this or that and then working out why), it has made me think about the value of my time.
Facebook especially. While I learn from old hands and try to help new hands, a lot of the stuff I see, quite frankly is a waste of my time. About the only real valuable stuff that appears on my front page is stuff from the UN, MDS, Dali Lama etc. The stuff from most people, perhaps 1% holds interest for me. And some of the suggested sites and adverts just make me shake my head. Those algorithms clearly don’t understand me. (Ejc behave).
On a separate issue I was going to strike through my tag line, and follow it with a quip but couldn’t get that to work, anyone know how to do it? I assume something like [s]....[/s] but that and other things I googled doesn’t work.
