Do you not have your 520 on autopause then sync and start before you swim?
I used to do this with my 800 (have a 520 now) and it sits on pause until you pull your bike off the rack.

I just turn mine on, and turn off auto-shutdown. I used to use the autopause approach, but then you get the run out from transition, and in some events this can skew things like IF quite a bit. Now, I just hit start directly on the edge once I have my feet in my shoes.

I've not yet had an issue with the Edge 520 failing to pick up my PM after the swim. Odds on I now get an issue next race Rolling Eyes

people might start needing some bigger codes now they've announced VAT is going to be added to the price so an extra 20% for us I believe! Starting to look very expensive for what is essentially a nice calendar and TSS calculator for myself.

What's most frustrating for me from TP is that they are so lazy not he innovation front. When you point out silly omissions for structuring training they just say 'add it to the feature requests' where it sits for years. You cant even do basic things like set it so the default to calculate running TSS is HR or pace rather than running power.

Is that definitely how it's working? I'm on an annual policy and months away from renewing, so I can't see what the future price would be yet.

The wording of their email ("will be subject to VAT") could be interpreted as them charging the same price but just clearly disclosing the relevant VAT separately on the invoice. But as you imply, yes, it could also mean they're going to slap VAT on top.

If they are going the latter route, how come this doesnt seem to apply to other service subscriptions like TR?

I got a 40% off code for the current annual subscription, and also signed up to best bike split with the linked discount as well. I've actually enjoyed using both, but wouldnt pay full price for the annual subscription for either. I'd probably pay for a monthly subscription to BBS before key races however.

PCP, my watch has run power and it defaults to using this. Not sure if its changed since I last looked but last I couldn't change to not default to power over HRTSS or rTSS

So...swimming...why do they upload as 0m and 0:00:00 time with no HR data?

It is so very irksome.

TP does not match Elevate due to this, grr!

What device are you using?
Swimming uploads fine for me and always has done with any Garmin. HR data imports fine from a HR-Tri strap that syncs the data on saving the activity file.

So...

...it's a Suunto Spartan Trainer Wrist HR (which I hate)

Thing is, it does all of the metrics when I'm in a 25m pool, but not a 20m one???

This seems very very odd...

What do you mean by "it does all the metrics in a 25m pool but not a 20m pool"?
Is the watch itself still showing you accurate total distance, etc, and it's just not importing correctly to Training Peaks?
What about importing to strava?

On HR, as far as I am aware, none of the watches enable wrist based HR in pool mode as it's not considered reliable enough. I know that to definitely be true of all Garmins, although less clear on Suunto.

It uploads fine to Strava, with complete HR data.
Training Peaks just will not import it all when in a 20m pool.
If I do the same swim in a 25m pool, then it is absolutely dandy.
Quirk.

Very weird. It's absolutely fine for me in a 20m pool.

It's TP's way of telling you to stop shirking in a short pool.
