Following on from last years successful TT thread, I thought i'd create this years effort in earnest!

I know there are a few TT's already happening in England. Nothing much up here in Scotland until late February.

How about those intending to TT this season mention their PB's and aspirations for this season?

I'll start:

Sopworth 10m PB: 21:46 2018 Target: 20:00 (Going big early!)

My main target is over 100miles. I would love to go sub4 and on the right course, on the right day I would hope to get close, but I think something in the region of 4:05 is probably a bit more realistic. Last year I rode a mid 1:57 over 50 miles and that was with quite a big negative split, so if I can get that down to 1:55 I should be in with a shout.

So far I've entered the Wheelers Sporting 14 in February as an early season event, my club's Open 10 in early April and the National 12hr in June. Will enter the Hounslow 100 to see where I am in May and then see if I can get a time good enough to get on the E2 course.

Nice!

Sub 20 10 and sub 3:50 100 my targets for the year.

10: PB is 20:38 (real float day in 2016 - E2/10), I rode 10-12w higher 3 or 4 times in 2017 but nearest I got was 20:54 - never had a fast day. I'll enter a couple of events on V718, and 3/4 on E2/10. I'll need another 10w above last year, plus good conditions on one of those days to go sub 20, fingers crossed Smile

The sub 3:50 100 is probably more likely. I was after sub 4 for 2/3 years (prepare for a wait Wheezy Rolling Eyes) and had a number of rides in the 4:02 - 4:04 range, without ever finding 'fast' conditions. Last year I got onto the E2/100 and we had a perfect, fast day on what is probably the fastest 100 course in the country and I thought this was it. But, rode like a donkey (also discovered some brake rub post race) and frustratingly another 4:04. PB's and records were falling all over the show.

I was furious: 4 weeks later rode another 100 on B100/4 (A11 Norfolk) - not as quick as E2 and the day was not as fast but fuelled by anger and frustration I got 3:58:30. This was done after being a minute or so down at 75 miles with more headwind than tailwind to go. Basically I found another 15 or so watts by eviscerating myself, no way was I going to let another year go past without a sub 4.....

That A11 ride was easily worth sub 3:50 on that E2 day, hence this year's target.

Also like to have a good ride at the classic Anfield 100, after a mechanical DNF last year.

So far I am nicely placed, in a sweet spot base training phase, nice 10 watt increase after the first 6 week block, just starting the next 6 weeks....

Good luck all!

Was that the 100 where a mate of mine did 3.18xx ? He said the conditions were wickedly fast.

My 100 PB was on the now infamous 99.8 Stockton Wheelers Sad when the first sub 3:20 was done, for a short few weeks.

I seem unable to hurt myself for that distance and opt for a steady ride.

I'd like to get a 22:xx 10 this year, PB was on the levens a few years ago, 21:55 I think on a fairly grim day. Have done V718 but didn't really enjoy it and even if I could get a start I'm not overly keen on going back.

Levens and V718 are only about a 2 hour drive, there's a couple of decent 10's locally if I want to go onto the A19 (DC) but not super quick.

Although I've never really been that interested in 10's, like 5k's they are far too hard!

Much the same. Pb over 10m in 2016 (21:55 on the F11/10) and last year was nowhere near, despite being faster over 25 and 50. It's a bit too hurty for me but I would like to go back and get nearer to 21.

It's 12 Jan, and I can confirm that I've cycled 10 miles already. No idea how long it took.

Make sure you send your objection in - I will be!

Yes, and it could be the first rock of a landslide re fast DC courses.

Had 3 rides scheduled on the V - one event cancelled (rain) other two were utter filth with a howling wind in the wrong direction. Really wanted to see what a proper fast day could bring....

Sad

I'll stick my objection in, although they may say 'what the £$%^ing hell has it got to do with him - he's from Suffolk'

Did the Kingston Wheelers Sporting 14 last month and I was rubbish. Never really got going and not helped by the chain constantly slipping. My TT bike is now in bits in the shed as I have bought some new bars to try to tidy up the front end and I am going to spend the next couple of months, before the season starts in earnest, playing around with my position.
Got a Sporting 10 and 25 next weekend but I doubt I will have my bike built up by then, so I'm going to do it on my road bike and just use them as training.

I did a local 20 mile sporting yesterday, only raced on my winter bike still with mudguards on which got a few laughs, has got a set of clipon tri bars though. I've actually got a DNS at the moment as for some reason the time keeper couldn't see my number apparently, but strangely they were on the other side of the road at the finish line.

Wasn't a great performance but if I'd been on the good bike and aero helmet etc. I'd have been 3-4 mins faster I reckon.

Power wasn't great but for this time of the year, and just getting over the flu I wasn't too disappointed. Also ran 15 miles the day before.

It's a lot easier to do a hard session that way though, I'd have given up on the turbo probably.
