I'm not sure i ever looked it up but am surprised there is such a difference between models. |
There is, the fenix 5/935 battery is huge, lasts ages. |
Bought a Fenix 5 - battery is pretty good - lasted for my 12:40 IM and was still good for a few days after just working as a watch!! |
What do you think of the Fenix 5? I really like the look of it but its eye-wateringly expensive. |
I paid £385 for the Fenix 5 off Amazon - I thought that was a good price? Just looked at 935's which appear to be more?
(Fenix 5's are now £349 on Amazon) |
Oh it was the 5s Plus I was looking at. £550

That said, I'm going to retire from Ironman, the day I can't finish one within the battery life of a 735XT. Life goals |
That's a strong statement. Given my real world testing has shown the 24hr battery life of a 920xt actually results in 14hrs, the same drop off in the 735 battery life would require you to break 8hrs10!
EDIT - that is with the watch being 2yrs old, so a new 735 would get a bit more. But Whisk and others have implied it's not even up to 12hrs, so with a bit of age, that will quickly fall below 10 |

Just wondering if anybody has managed to use Zwift on an Amazon fire HD tablet? The HD8 for £49.99 is a bit of a bargain if it does, though not sure if it can

Wiggle and Sigma have already discounted as part of their early black friday deals to c£870. I'm tempted. |
I'd decided to buy it. And then just before hitting the purchase button, during on final search this morning, stumbled on the fact it's incompatible with some TT bikes with rear brakes down by the BB - and in particular Scott Plasma's. On their compatibility chart, only the Scott Plasma 20 is listed (as incompatible), but I infer that also means the Plasma 3 Premium.
I have directly asked the question, but it looks like back to the drawing board.
EDIT - confirmed not suitable

Just pulled the pin on the 735 Tri Bundle from Wiggle. Still no black ones but £220 (with the £10 discount) is £100 better than anywhere else I could find.
I've got a solution for the battery life for IM too. I'll plant a tree and count the rings when/if I finish

Good price on Garmin Vector 3s at Cycle Republic

Having just bought a Neo and 935, the missus will have kittens if I pull the trigger.

I'm pretty happy with Garmin Connect and have some other devices so ideally wanted to stay on the same platform for uploads etc.
I'm not all that familiar with the Ambit 3 but I don't think it has optical heart rate or Ant+. Whilst I'll probably carry on using a heart rate strap for training I like having the optical option day to day and I'd also have to possibly replace or upgrade other items like my powertap, speed cadence sensors etc

Ended up getting an Archimedes II in Medium.
Size chart seems to fit my current weight and target weight is roughly there (72kg)

I will be (genuinely) interested to hear how long it lasts you before it looks like a sieve; handle with care
