Speedplay cleats

Hi all, my 'winter' speedplay x pedals have died and I have been searching on-line for a replacement. Looks like Speedplay have ditched the old style cleat, can't seem to find them.

I bought some walkable cleats in 2016 and the covers fell off the pedals whilst I was doing Raid Pyrenean - by the end of that trip, without the protection of the covers, the cleats were trashed - I managed to return them and buy the old style ones which was fine.

Basically, I'm nervous about buying speedplay again (much as I love them) unless they've improved the walkable cleats - any idea if this is the case?

Assuming that Speedplay have screwed up, what other pedals offer plenty of float? I used Look before moving to Speedplay about 10 years ago but don't recall missing them for a second when I changed.
