Steve Yates, who won our race once in the first couple of years, and has regularly been on or near the podium, is going to be 51 when he races this year, and I think he did circa 4:10 on the full length 113 course a couple of years ago.

When I see Steve's name now, I can't help but associate it with his various antics in the 226! He's certainly a beast though, and an engaging chap.

Yeah, same. Not one of his finest moments...

I've never gone under 5. I've been close but either cramped on the run due to poor nutrition and once my back went 8km in when I was on target for a 4:55 and I DNF'd.

Targets:

Swim - 32
T1 - 3
Bike - 2:35
T2 - 2
Run - 1:38
Total - 4:50

Those are very achievable based on previous, should I get my nutrition right which I have pretty much got nailed now. Then obv get pacing right.

Time will tell.

Well, maybe I should nail my colours to the mast.

So Poet is the man to beat, hoping for a low 4:30s.

That's down to you Jorgan. I'll be doing my best to get ahead of PCP and uphold the good name of us southerners.

I'm aiming to beat my PB from my first half which was the Sundowner in 2016. I did 5:09:44 then (S 32:45, B 2:44:53, R 1:48:31).

I'm a stronger cyclist than i was then (should be able to race at ~245 watts compared to 230) and should be able to run faster than that if I can stay injury free. But from the looks of things the bike course at Cotswolds isn't as completely pan-flat as Sundowner, so it should be a bit of a challenge to beat that time.

I grew-up in south Devon; not very northern! Or is PCP a northern monkey, and we're working in pairs?

PCP seems to be a manc-lad. I'll do my best to keep ahead of him; you deal with Poet.

Nearer the time, might even work out a handicap.

I won't get near 4:30, that's the "science" part.

I'll be closer to 5hrs. And I will actually be more than happy to dip under 5.

My first triathlon in nearly nine years (kids, work, money etc, etc) and my first longer than a sprint distance.

Got a few niggling injuries that are making me a bit nervous about making the start line, but i'll hopefully be there. Wont be near any of your finish times though... i'll just be happy to finish.
