hi GrahamO,
I really am new to this forum.
My name is Ben Peresson and I am one of the directors at Racing Quest (UK) Limited (Company number 10959675).
I raced UMUK in 2015 and loved it. Claire and Darren crewed for me. I met Darren when competing at Marathon Des Sables also in 2015.
UMUK has been run since 2011, by (the now dissolved company of) Racing Quests Ltd. My company, Racing Quest (UK) Limited, took over the organisation of UMUK in September 2017. That is why UMUK could not take part in 2017.
The previous company, Racing Quests Ltd, initially ran an official Ultraman event with winners gaining automatic entry to the Ultraman World Championships in Hawaii. However, it parted company with the Ultraman franchise in 2013. Since 2013 the event has been run as an ‘ultraman distance triathlon’ with the logo UMUK. The new company, Racing Quest (UK) Limited, are not part of the Ultraman franchise, so will continue running the event with the same branding.
As Rob mentioned we were permitted by the British Triathlon Federation. You are more than welcome to contact Anna Smith-Clare from the BTF for reference.
As I said before, we are fully aware of the shortfalls of our website and are in the process of re-writing and re-designing it. However, you can visit our facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/triathlons or facebook page https://www.facebook.com/racingquest.co.uk. There are some great photos of this year's event.
p.s. I have always used my work laptop. I work for Hargreaves Services https://www.hsgplc.co.uk/ and have no idea how the IP would be from the Ukraine???!!!
Anyway, I really hope this explanation has given you peace of mind. We really are passionate about triathlons and are blessed to host UMUK in North Wales. Snowdonia truly is amazing!

I guess his laptop is using a VPN. So he can surf the Internet for surprise birthday presents for his wife, without her or his ISP ever knowing

Another new registrant posting on this thread; it's all looking a bit contrived.

.............now posting from an EE connection in Brentford, nowhere near the OP's stated address.
Maybe they are just on a mobile phone but I can confirm that Racing Quest and CRP are posting from the same IP address.
So should I delete them and the entire thread ?

Leave them hanging.
However interesting the event is - & I have crewed for a competitor in the past - it's pretty embarrassingly obvious to everyone how contrived this thread is.

It is perhaps naivety from our part (Rob, my wife Claire or myself) or simply not used to chat in forums like tritalk but we are sad to hear some of your comments.
GrahamO, CRP is my wife Claire, also director @ Racing Quest. She merely posted to Rob, who volunteered for us this year (also creator of this thread), the following: "Just read your race report for your Kielder win. Awesome stuff! Can't wait to see you race UMUK in 2019!" This is all true: we can't wait to see him race next year as we are sure he will try to win it.
Doonhamer, we have nothing to feel embarrassed about, we are promoting our races. However, I do apologise if promoting events in this forum is against their rules and regulations. If it is so, I'll be the first one to contact Rob to delete this thread.
Finally, I am not British so English is only my third language. Would you guys like to have a go at that too? Just saying.

There's nothing wrong with promoting events but I am sure you will understand when a new member posts about an event, and two new parties all make supportive comments with their only posts, it looks exactly like a con in action. Its normally followed up with spam and the logged Ukraine IP address didnt help. Maybe next time don't use your company laptop although why they would be using a VPN to Ukraine is beyond me.
Thats what happens when you use an anonymous persona appearing to be someone 'who just happens to come across the post' and pumping up your own event.
But I'm sure you'll do well here as long as you keep things clear.

Maybe I am terribly naive, but I am interested in the event
