the former I think.

I will admit that I would like to be party/fly on the wall to some of those discussions in the male part of English Masonic world.

Does anyone know how this came about? Presumably a member changed gender and her lodge wanted to maintain them as a member.

And to think some of the arguments that I have endured about how « women can’t be masons » argued relentlessly by some UGLE and amity masons in the past, regardless of the facts on the ground and UGLEs top level discussions with (and I understand marriages to) women masons and French masonry.

I can just imagine some UGLE masons needing a stiff drink.

Good on UGLE though. Hopefully they will follow French Masonry and have comasonic lodges before long. Arguably they now have!

Just goes to show that it’s not only me that can change. Even UGLE can take positive steps forwards. The big question is how many lodges will refuse her entry?

Anyhow, Nigerian Guinness is best served ice cold.

I do believe in France women can be Masons.

Anyway, as a trans woman I'm delighted I won't be kicked out.

Mine's a VERY large Cardhu gold please.

do you know what the backstory is? Or is it just a policy change for the future?

I will admit the progressiveness has impressed me.

indeed Gus, even some French comasonic lodges in England. I once took part in an open ceremony with one.

And there are the English two (that I know of) women’s only Masonic orders, who I understand UGLE does talk to. And some UGLE lodges even do joint community events with. One was advertised on fb last week.

Still waiting on my Guinness.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-45030075

4700 women Freemasons in England.

It’s seems it’s a policy clarification to avoid discrimination legislation. Can’t help but wonder what forced the issue to the surface and through member guidance.

Gus

Do you think that GLoS will do the same? Given its UGLE amity and all that entails.

Do you think that if I ordered a Louis XIII my drink would come any quicker?
