26 weeks to go until Ironman UK

Last week was a good week in the bag 9 hours and 22 minuets, that's 45 minuets swimming 6 hours 43 on the bike and 1 hour 54 running I just need to keep up around the 10 hours per week until the end of February. Once spring starts and the mornings start to get lighter I will be introducing longer bike rides to work and also run in the morning that way I will be able to fit a run or swim in the evening to keep the miles and training hours building and topping out at 15 hours per week by the end of March. This week was my first ride out with a good group of cyclists from Ripley and we did a 20 mile out and back in Derbyshire at the turn around point my water bottle has frozen!! That's a first! As I reviews the weeks training on Strava I was 3rd in the Ironman UK team on training time only 22 minutes behind Paul Rodger so of I set on a 4 mile loop knowing once I returned and loaded up my extra 30 minutes that would put me top for the first time. Upon loading my run onto Garmin connect there it was Mark Jeszke leader in this weeks training log and of to bed I went thinking I was a training God this week. Monday morning 6:32 as stood waiting for the kettle to boil I look at the training log on Strava only to find that I'd slipped to 3rd both Paul Rodger and Mark Spure logged the rest of there training once I'd gone to bed never mind.

This weeks going to be interesting the weather has turned COLD and snow in on the way so it looks like the Turbo and snow boots this week !!

27 Weeks to go until Ironman UK

That's the weekend done and training started with a 6 mile run straight after work. I ran with Max B the run is 3 mile up hill to start and a fast 3 mile down hill to finish. We started in daylight and finished in the dark. Having one head torch between we played dodge the pot hole and still held a good pace and averaging 7.27 per mile.

I had a good strong 10 mile run on Saturday morning with the training aim to keep my average pace below 8 minutes per mile. With the last 3.5 miles into a headwind gusting up to 30 mile per hour I knew it was going to be hard work. As I turned into the wind for the last section of the run my pace slowed from 7:32 pace to 7:42 which I'm pleased with.

No training on Sunday as we had a family trip to Harry Potter World in London a top that all the family really enjoyed.

Back on the bike

Boom ran last night but Garmin connect wasn't working so I'm not able to load up my miles it was a 4 mile run and I took it easy 07:40 pace, I'm trying to keep all my runs regardless of distance to sub 8 minuets per mile lets see how that goes once the miles get up to around 15.

Today I've go 2 bike rides planed (to and from work) I'm working on my cadence my goal is to average between 85 to 100 rpms on each ride to help with my peddling efficiency. I did a lot of work on this last year and it really paid off.

Hi my name Mark Jeszke and I've signed up to do Ironman UK 2015, this will be my first iron distance race. I've been racing triathlon for 5 years competing in sprint, olly and half iron distance races and decided the I've all the gear and need to man up and dip my toe into the true one day endurance test and see how it goes.
